It’s remarkably hard to find a good Margarita in Key Largo!
Imagine that- in the land of Margaritaville and lost shakers of salt, a decent margarita is hard to find. I normally resort to making my own- so easy and much better than the too-sweet, fake-tasting and calorie-busting versions offered at local restaurants. The ingredients are simple- Silver Patron Tequila, Cointreau and fresh lime juice with a salted rim.
I have found, however, a great alternative to making Margaritas myself and that is a brand called Santa Brisa that sells pre-made margaritas with natural ingredients. I was given a sample by one of the owners of Santa Brisa by Nico- the nephew of a home owner where I visited to write an article for Coral Gables magazine. I took it to our place in the Keys, chilled it, poured it into a shaker filled with ice and then into chilled glass with a salted rim. It was delicious!

According to their website “the Santa Brisa pre-made Margarita was designed by renowned mixologists from Michelin-starred restaurants in Mexico City”. It is made of natural ingredients- Tequila Blanco, Orange Liqueur, Lime Juice and Agave Syrup. You can find it for sale at Crown Wine and Spirits and Grove Liquors and it retails for about $27 for a bottle that makes about 8 margaritas.
Now you have no excuse not to have a Margarita to celebrate Cinco de Mayo or anyday.
