Garden on the First Day of Spring

Garden on the First Day of Spring

Since it’s a rainy day, thought I would post photos of my little herb garden from last week, on the first day of Spring. I have mostly herbs, but also an eggplant and a couple peppers. I also planted a sweet potato that sprouted and some scallions I grew from scraps. My Butterfly Pea plant is doing very well, with pretty blue flowers that can be used to decorate cookies or made into tea or simple syrup. I have some Milkweed for the Monarch Caterpillars to feed on and Marigolds because they’re cheerful and help keep the bugs away.

The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nature a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.” Alfred Austin
