Christmas Cosmo

Since it’s Christmastime and most of us are stuck at home (except you naughty boys and girls!), let’s make an easy and refreshing Holiday drink. The original drink calls for white cranberry juice, but if you use red, with green sugar, it looks quite festive. Cranberry Juice has lots of Vitamin C in it, to keep the Corona Grinch away! Thanks to Peggy Rigsby, Queen of Girl’s Weekend Cocktails, for this recipe.

Toasting to the Holidays!

Christmas Cosmo

  • 1 part Vodka, chilled
  • 2 parts cranberry juice
  • A splash of orange liqueur, like Triple Sec
  • A splash of champagne or Prosecco
  • Green sugar
  • Lime

Slice a lime and rim the juice around a martini glass. Dip the glass in green sugar. In a shaker with ice, add ingredients (except sugar and lime), shake well and strain into the chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lime twist.

You could also garnish with a sprig of rosemary. If some of the green sugar dissolves into your drink, don’t worry. It makes a very cool effect of a layered green and red drink. What could be more festive?

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Feliz Navidad!

Born and raised in Miami, the daughter of a pilot and stay-at-home Mom, I love food in all forms. My great grandfather opened the first Italian restaurant in Miami in the 20's, The Boathouse on the Miami river. I love exploring my heritage and linking food and recipes to personal stories. I've been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Food and Love and wrote restaurant reviews and news as the Miami Dining Examiner for three years. I love exploring Miami's latest hot spots, hole in the walls and institutions. I'm always looking for innovative ways to use the plethora of tropical fruits and vegetables South Florida offers, especially from my own garden.
